Cyber Essentials is a scheme developed by the UK Government, with advice from Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), to identify the security controls an organisation must have in place within their IT systems. By developing these controls, organisations can effectively mitigate the risk and defend themselves against network based cyber attacks.
The Cyber Essentials scheme enables organisations to secure a high-level of cyber security through the implementation of the five fundamental technical security controls.

The Information Assurance for Small and Medium Enterprises (IASME) Governance standard was developed in order to create a cyber-security standard, which would be affordable and an achievable alternative to the international standard, ISO27001.
IASME Governance has been used by many organisations to demonstrate that they have the systems and processes in place to ensure that data is managed properly. Included in this standard is the assessment against the GDPR requirements, utlimately to enable organisations to say they are GDPR ready.
On successfully completing the questionnaire the organisation can display the Cyber Essentials, GDPR Readiness and the IASME Governance logos on their website and promotional material.
